"Being on the way together" - our mission statement

Our association

IN VIA München e. V. was founded in 1895 as the "Marianischer Mädchenschutzverein". The aim of the association was to protect girls travelling alone, who at that time came to the city in large numbers from the countryside, from exploitation and human trafficking. Today, the association is a specialist organisation within the Caritas Association of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising and is active in the fields of railway station missions, youth housing and migration.

The basic aim of our organisation, to accompany girls and women on their way to a self-determined life and to support people by helping them to help themselves, has remained the same. However, our programmes and measures are constantly evolving. For example, work with boys and men has now also become an important focus in some areas. This is also done with the aim of achieving equality between men and women.

Our view of humanity

We believe that every person is a unique creature of God. We are convinced that every person has their own resources and the potential for further development, that they are capable of relationships and can take responsibility for themselves and others.
We approach people who are limited in these possibilities and accompany them. We treat everyone with openness and respect, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion and world view
The Christian view of humanity obliges and motivates us to help people in need in particular. It is decisive for our work with our clients as well as in our dealings with colleagues, volunteers and cooperation partners.

Our actions

We welcome people to our facilities and treat them as equals. We build on and promote their own abilities and strengths. We support people in finding their place in society. To this end, we are also involved in socio-political issues and take a stand for girls and women in particular.
Intercultural co-operation is a high priority at IN VIA. We are open and sensitive to people and their cultural backgrounds, seek common ground and respect differences.
We work professionally and responsibly. Regular reflection, professional exchange and participation in further training are important measures for us to ensure and further develop the quality of our work.
As a recognised non-profit association, we use the resources available to us responsibly.

Our community

We create places where our employees and members can experience community. It is important to us to offer spiritual programmes and create opportunities to engage with questions of faith and the church.
Our aim is for leaders to fulfil their mission transparently and reliably. We create a working atmosphere that promotes mutual trust and respectful interaction with one another. Constructive criticism and the ability to deal with conflict also have their place here.
We want to facilitate voluntary work and see volunteers with their diverse experience and skills as a particular asset.

Our journey

"Being on the way together" - this stands for our commitment to the people we support and our contribution to a diverse society based on solidarity. We remain open to new developments and take into account the challenges of the times.
